Chili’s Scholar Athlete
for
March 2008
Brant Kersten

Congratulations to Brant Kersten, a senior at Issaquah High
School.
He has been selected as the March Chili’s Scholar Athlete of
the Month by the Issaquah Booster Club and Chili’s
Restaurant.
IHS Swim and Dive coach, Laura Halter nominated Brant. Coach
Halter writes, “Brant is a very hardworking athlete who leads by
example. He is an organized team captain and helps make the team
a fun place.” Brant has been a swim varsity letterman and a
state qualifier for 4 straight years, an All KingCo First Team
for 2 years and the SeaKing District Champion in the 500 Free
this past season.
Brant has a rigorous academic schedule of AP classes and
maintains a 3.8 GPA, qualifying him as a USA Swimming Scholastic
All American and a KingCo Scholar Athlete. Brant plays the
saxophone and has represented IHS as a member of the Concert and
Pep Bands. Outside of school he has served as a Page in Olympia,
volunteered on teen energy conservation projects and worked as a
summer lifeguard. Next year Brant will attend Claremont
McKenna, where he plans to swim and pursue majors in economics
and physics.
Brant is an exemplary scholar athlete. His dedication has made
him a shining example to represent Issaquah High School. We
want to congratulate Brant and wish him the best of luck in the
future!
