Jordan Tanner

Red Robin Scholar Athlete

of the Month

January 2010

Congratulations to Jordan Tanner, a senior at Issaquah High School.  He has been selected as the January Red Robin Scholar Athlete of the Month by the Issaquah Booster Club and Red Robin Restaurant.

I.H.S. Boys Wrestling Coach Kirk Hyatt writes, "Jordan has had high standards for academics since his freshman year.  He was head captain 09-10, is a 3 year State participant, a 3 year I.H.S. scholar, 2008-2009 Academic All-State Honorable Mention and is well on his way to achieving scholar and all state honors this year.  He has taken 2nd in State in freestyle wrestling and represented Washington State at the Nationals".

Jordan says that this year's senior class is really special because 4 out of the 5 seniors have wrestled on the same team since middle school.  "We have a strong bond".  He reports that the Issaquah team recently took 4th in KINGCO and that he took 1st in his weight division of 135 lbs.

Jordan is an Eagle Scout and has contributed his community service through scouting.  He helped to build the wetlands outdoor learning center at Endeavour Elementary School.

Next year he will attend college at BYU Provo where he hopes to explore his interests in the medical fields.

Jordan is an exemplary scholar athlete. His hard work and dedication have made him a shining example to represent Issaquah High School.   We want to congratulate Jordan and wish him the best of luck in the future!
