Information and Announcements

Conversation Starters: Last week IHS hosted two drug and alcohol programs, the Mock Crash for Juniors and Seniors and Save 6K for Sophomores. Ask your student about the assemblies on Thursday and talk with them about the importance of making smart choices when it comes to driving.

Grades: All teachers posted grades last week and some confusion has surfaced about what you may see on Family Access. What you see posted under the “Quarter 1” grade column right now is a snapshot of your student’s grade on Oct. 9, the day the grade check was due. However, the grade you see posted under the “Semester” column as well as the “assignment list” under quarter grades are continually updated as teachers enter information. So your student might have had a C in English as of October 9 (when the snapshot of the grade was taken); since then, the teacher may have posted several more homework assignments that your student completed successfully, bringing his/her continuously running grade up to a B. You would see a “C” under the quarter grade column and a “B” under the semester column; additionally, the new assignments would continue to be added to the ongoing assignment list, so be sure to check the semester column in the future rather than the quarter column.

Culminating project is a state graduation requirement.

IHS Culminating project items are due soon for Juniors (Oct.31) and Seniors (Nov.16). Click here to be directed to the website IHS Culminating Project Each grad class is listed along with clickable links to paperwork, flyers and information.  Students who are in Running Start or other off campus courses are still required to complete all portions of the project.

*Special note for Seniors:  Students must turn in a copy of their Resume and answer to question #1 to the Career Center by Nov.16.(see website for details)Exit interviews are happening the first week in Dec. Your student can not be scheduled until they have completed all previously assigned works. Please let your student know that the Career Center has access to the online work students are assigned and we will be checking for completion.

*Special note for Juniors: On Oct. 31 you will only need to turn in to the Career Center the last page of the packet (High School and Beyond plan), but we need to see that you completed the other items and we will be checking that you did the online work too.

Library Databases

The IHS library subscribes to fifteen on-line databases and e-books that students can access when working on school projects and assignments.  These resources are linked on the library web page, http://www.ihs.issaquah.wednet.edu/library/.  When accessing these from home, students will need to enter a user name and password, which are on the library databases e-news.  Contact Mr. Schadt in the library, 837-6148, for more information.

2007-2008 REFLECTIONS PROGRAM

 “I Can Make a Difference By….”

It’s time again for artistic expression through the Reflections program!  Sponsored by the National and Washington State PTAs, the Reflections program encourages students to express themselves creatively with original works of art, literature, music, photography, visual arts, film/video, and choreography/dance to represent a specific theme.  Awards will be given to those submissions that best express creativity and incorporate the theme. This year’s theme is “I Can Make a Difference By….”  Submissions may be worked on at home or at school.  Judging will take place at the students’ respective high schools, and awards will be given at the school, district, state and national levels.  If you have a budding Picasso, Ansel Adams, Mozart or Isadora Duncan in your home, encourage them to pick up an information packet in the school office.  This year’s deadline for submissions is November 9.  You can also find information and a downloadable application form at  http://www.wastatepta.org/programs/Reflections/reflect.htm

If you have any questions, please contact Jill Lester (IHS) at maryjilllester@aol.com or Blythe Meigs (PCFC) at blytheandmike@msn.com for more information.

Complete details about the Reflections Program and each category can be found here.
