Note: Psychopathy is usually characterized by antisocial and extremely egocentric behavior. A psychopath, sometimes called a psychopathic personality, appears to be lacking an inner moral sensor, and often commits criminal acts, without anxiety or guilt, in order to obtain immediate gratification of desires. Such a person may be utterly lacking in sexual restraint, or addicted to hard drugs. Some psychologists prefer the label sociopath for this type of personality to indicate the absence of a social conscience.
Psychosomatic – disorder where mental or emotional disturbance (within the psyche= i>), especially the unconscious, causes bodily symptoms and perceives of pain that is not really there
(i.e. a person who fears going to a meeting will suddenly develop a cold or backache and not be able to make it to the meeting. The cold and backache are real, but it is his unconscious that made him susceptible to the cold germs and backache, rather than natural causes)
Psychoanalysis – the technique of deeply probing into the unconscious to analyze psychic phenomena and treating emotional disorders, developed by Sigmund Freud.
(The treatment often involves treatment sessions during which the patient is encouraged to talk freely about personal experiences and especially about early childhood and dreams)
