Do I
need to bring my guitar to school?
No. Please do NOT
bring your own guitar to school. We have acquired 25 electric-acoustic guitars
through a grant from the Issaquah Schools Foundation. Each student will have
his/her own guitar for use during class. These guitars will not be allowed out
of the classroom so any home practicing will need to be done with a student’s
own guitar. It is not necessary to have
a guitar at home. We will practice at school every day, although students would
benefit greatly from having their own instrument to practice at home also.
Mills Music Store on Front Street
has been a tremendous help in getting our Guitar Lab up and running. I would
recommend them for your use with any music needs.
Is there a fee for this class?
There is a $30
usage fee and a $10 book fee for guitar class. We are supplying guitars, straps, amps,
picks, cables, and strings. If a string
breaks, you will need to replace it. We will give you one replacement string at
no charge.
Strings can be purchased during class for $2.00 and replacement picks are $.50.
Guitar
Use Policy
Students
will be responsible for any damage done to their guitars. Our instruments cost
$199 each. Replacement or repair costs will be passed on to the student. One
guitar will be assigned to each student and must be checked thoroughly at the
beginning of each period to check for damages. Reported damages will be assessed
to the students who used the guitar previously as long as it is reported within
the first 5 minutes of class. Each student will daily be
responsible for setting up and putting away his/her chair, music stand, and
guitar.
