General Description

This class will focus on composing and recording an arrangement or original song.

Goals

Through this course, students will be able to

Compose a melody including chords
Put lyrics to music
Transcribe original music and publish it using Sibelius Software
Perform or produce the song and record it on CD.

Computer Usage
Students may only use Sibelius Music Notation Software on the computers. Use of internet or any other program will result in detention and loss of computer privilege. Permission must be given by the teacher for any other use besides Sibelius.

Dates & Deadlines

October 1 / March 5: Presentation of Song Project.

November 14 / April 24: Song completed – first draft – in B Irish folder

Using Sibelius – at least: melody, chords, and lyrics

December 17 / May 12: Final Compositions due in B Irish folder (Must be written in Sibelius)

January 14 / June 7: Recordings due & Presentations begin: Play your recording, show your

song and explain your process for writing and recording.

Grades

Class Assignments – 10 - 25 pts.

Deadlines met – 50 pts. each

Work submitted per deadline – 100 pts. each
