Want to get college credit for classes you are taking at Issaquah High School?  It’s easy when you enroll in a Tech Prep class!

WHAT IS TECH PREP?

Tech Prep is a dual-credit program that provides an opportunity for high school students to receive college credit for taking certain high school courses.  Currently, Issaquah High School has articulations with Bellevue Community College, Lake Washington Technical College, and Shoreline Community College  Many four-year institutions and other community colleges will accept Tech Prep college credit.  Students should contact those institutions directly.

REQUIREMENTS TO RECEIVE COLLEGE CREDIT:

  1. Enroll in a designated duel-credit Tech Prep class offered at Issaquah High School:
    • Introduction to Marketing
    • Web Authoring
    • Software Tech
    • Sports Medicine 1, 2 or 3
    • Tech Draw
  2. Receive a B or better in class.  If the class is a year long, students must receive a B or better both semesters.  Grades will not be averaged.
  3. Go to www.netechprep.org  to register and pay a $25.00 registration fee.  Deadlines for registration/fee payment are before you complete the class in that school year.  See Tech Prep website for actual date.

ADVANTAGES TO ENROLLING IN TECH PREP CLASSES:

  • Prepare for a career! Build marketable skills while remaining with high school peers!

  • Save $$$! Save the cost of college tuition, books and lab fees!

  • Save time! Earn credit for high school and community/technical college classes at the same time! Get a head start on earning a certificate or a degree!

  • Promotion/pay raise! for high school students entering the military with college credit! Check with your recruiter for more information!

  • Avoid being wait listed! Many community colleges and technical schools have wait lists for incoming freshmen.  By enrolling in Tech Prep classes, participants become students of the college and have seniority over incoming freshmen that have not taken classes for credit at that institution.
