College Preparatory Mathematics

Algebra 1

How can I support my child’s educational success at home?

1)       Fortier’s Website: http://www.ihs.issaquah.wednet.edu/Teachers/fortierb/

Calendars of assignments, class syllabus, helpful links and more!

2)    ToolKits

“Toolkits” are class notes.  Students are allowed to use 1 toolkit on each test.  These notes should highlight key terms.  This also allows students to have formulas and examples at their disposal.  Please ask to see a student’s toolkit and help them in organizing these notes.

3)    Work Log

Students must keep a work log.  The work log serves two functions.  You should see stars on the log for warm up work that they are completing in class.  Students should also be writing down their daily assignments on this log.  Ask to see your child’s work log and help them stay organized.

4)    HotMath

The internet provides a valuable resource in www.hotmath.com  Hotmath offers step-by-step instruction to several problems.  Please access this website.

5)    CPM Parent Guide

College Preparatory Mathematics offers parent guides that discuss main ideas of each unit, offer additional examples and solve key problems in detail.  The guides also contain hundreds of practice problems with answers.

The Parent Guides are available as a free download at the CPM website at http://www.cpm.org/parent_guides/index.html. If you would prefer, you can purchase one by sending in the order form with a check or by calling CPM at (916) 681–3611 and using a credit card.

Thank you for taking time to support your student’s academics.  Feel free to contact me with any comments, questions or concerns.
