TONE
Tone varies to express the full
range of human feeling and thoutht. It may be
serious, formal, passionate (sorrowful, loving, angry); or it may be intimate,
light-hearted, or calmly meditative, or it can be witty or ironic.
A list of tone words is one
practical method of providing a basic "tone vocabulary." An enriched vocabulary enables you to use
more specific and subtle descriptions of an attitude you discover in a text.
