Learning and
problem solving are life long skills.
Teaching methods guide students to self-discovery using inquiry
methods. The curriculum follows a constructivist perspective
allowing students to succeed in their learning style yet covers
basics needed to excel on the 10th grade WASL. This is achieved
through lectures, guided discussions, inquiry guided labs,
experiments, computer-interfaced activities, and open-ended problem
solving techniques. The classroom relies heavily on laboratory
activities and integrates English, mathematics, social
studies, and problem solving
skills.
The second part of my philosophy is to learn the subject
matter in great detail because if you don't keep up and know your
subject matter in depth, you can't teach the subject in all its
creative forms.
Learning and problem solving are life long skills. As educators, we
can't concentrate solely on student products. We must be more concerned
with the process of learning and growing. |

INTERESTS
Gardening is a relaxing past time of
mine. Hayes Nursery and Squak Mountain Nursery have wonderful selections and people who can help you with
nursery stock and gardening questions. I also enjoy
visiting gardens, like
Buchart,
for ideas and color schemes I could use in my own yard.
University of Washington Women's Basketball Program
is an interest since my daughter played from 1999-2004.
She is presently employed by Baden Sports.
My son, Chad, played football at
Oregon State University from 1999-2001 so my husband
and I follow Beaver Football also. He is presently
employed at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital
in Portland, Oregon. We spent a lot of
time following our children from sporting event to
sporting event for many years!
My son's wife, Jill, an elementary
teacher in the Reynold's School District in Portland, Oregon,
and recently completed her Masters of Education. She is
a graduate of Western Oregon University and will be
delivering my first grand baby next year. I'm thrilled
and can't wait to greet the new baby and do things
grandparents do!
My husband works for
FSA Foods, Inc.
as a food buyer so eating is a big interest of ours as
well! The following are links to my favorite
people and past times! |
